The #5 Indianola volleyball team matches up with class 5A #4 Dowling in the first round of the state tournament at Xtream Arena in Coralville today.

The Indians come in with the top record in class 5A at 38-6, but have yet to match up with Dowling despite multiple common opponents including Ankeny Centennial, Ankeny, and Waukee Northwest among others.

Indianola is last years class 4A runner-up after falling in the championship match to North Scott, and head coach Kent Halstead said the biggest advantage for the Indians is they won’t be dismayed by playing at state in front of a big crowd, as most of the team has been able to do that over the last several years.

The matchup will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Melisse Jacobson on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45, with first serve at 2pm.
