After capturing the American Rivers Conference women’s cross country crown, Central College’s Addison Parrott was named the league’s female athlete of the week.

Also cited for league honors this week were Dutch wide receiver Ryan Neu, who was tabbed as the conference football offensive player of the week, and midfielder Joe Brown, who was named the men’s soccer offensive player of the week.

Parrott, who received USTFCCCA All-American distinction last year, raced to first place in the 6,000-meter conference race in Cedar Rapids Saturday in a career-best 21 minutes, 34.2 seconds. Parrott picked up all-conference honors for the second time after finishing seventh in last year’s meet, and received the league’s Most Valuable Performer Award. Central placed second in the team standings for the second year in a row. The Dutch compete in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships on November 16th in Rock Island, Illinois.

Neu tied a school record by hauling in four touchdown passes in Central’s 45-7 runaway over Loras College Saturday. He had nine catches for 174 yards overall. Neu had touchdown catches of 17, 54 and 31 yards in the second quarter and added a 31-yard score in the third. A two-time all-conference pick, he’s the school career-record holder for touchdown catches with 42 and has eight this season to go with 43 receptions for 690 yards overall. It’s the second time he’s received offensive player of the week recognition. Central (7-2) travels to Lincoln, Nebraska on November 16th to take on Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Brown scored the go-ahead goal as the sixth-seeded Central men’s soccer team ousted third-seeded Loras College from the American Rivers tournament with a stunning 3-1 upset win Saturday. It was Central’s first-ever win at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque. A first-team all-conference selection in 2022, Brown scored off a corner kick in the game’s 40th minute, his third goal of the season. Central (8-8-2) travels to Waverly Wednesday for a 7 pm tournament semifinal match at second-seeded Wartburg College.
