While their careers came to an end a week earlier than they had hoped, the senior members of the Pella Christian volleyball team left a major impact over their four years with the program.
Three of the six seniors on this season’s ranked Eagles squad were four year varsity contributors. Setter Chloe Huisman played in all 153 matches for Pella Christian over her career, posting 2,759 assists, 900 digs, 362 kills, 209 aces, and 88 blocks. Faith Kacmarynski, who spent time as both a defensive specialist and libero over 99 career starts and 143 matches played, recorded 1,037 digs, 214 assists, and 126 aces. Maggie Heinen was the other four year varsity player on Eagle Lane, making 103 starts and playing in 117 matches, while posting 514 digs, 298 kills, 73 aces, and 50 blocks.
Claire Westerkamp and Addison Bandstra joined the Pella Christian varsity squad as sophomores, while Madi Vanden Bosch moved to the Eagles’ varsity team as a junior. In three seasons, Bandstra started in 113 matches and played in 114, while recording 494 kills and 166 blocks as a middle hitter. Westerkamp served as a middle and right-side hitter in 36 career starts and 56 matches played, posting 145 kills and 52 blocks in three years. Vanden Bosch made appearances in 12 varsity games during her volleyball career on Eagle Lane, recording seven digs and two aces.
Over the course of these six individual’s volleyball careers at Pella Christian, the Eagles had an 85-68 overall record, including two 20-win seasons. Pella Christian went 25-15 in 2022 and 24-12 this season, recording the program’s first two 20-win seasons since the Eagles went 20-18 in 2018.
