hot-shot

The Knoxville Youth Activities Alliance (KYAA) will hold a hot shot challenge on Friday evening.

This challenge will start at 6:00 pm at the Knoxville Middle School Gym and will feature five different boy and girl age divisions from preschool through eighth grade. Players will have 90 seconds to score as many points as they can from each shooting circle, and ten bonus points can be earned if a player attempts a shot from each spot on the court. The player with the most points from their accumulated two rounds will be the champion. The KYAA is made up of volunteers who put on several different events for kids in the community throughout the year. Board member Tyler Pearson encourages youth to participate in these events.

“It’s super rewarding. The kids enjoy it. They are very grateful for it. I can think back to my youth when there were one day free throw challenges and spot shot competitions, and all these little one day events that took place. Some of those have fallen off over the years as turnover has happened with different volunteers. Think back to your childhood and those fun things you got to do as a child and how we can bring those back for kids.”

Registration is $20 and to register for the event you can follow this link. The KYAA is also always looking for volunteers to make these events possible. Hear more from Pearson on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
