It’s the final day of the 2024 Iowa High School Volleyball season and the Pella Dutch are playing for gold after a sweep of Sergeant Bluff-Luton 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-23), in a semifinals match heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Pella was dominating from the opening serve, and fueled behind a team hitting percentage of .300, six service aces, and nine total blocks. Katie Scheckel continued her strong week at state with 16 kills, 20 assists, and 10 digs; Emma Eekhoff and Brooke Schulte each tallied 10 kills apiece.
Schulte interview:
The #5 Dutch will have a rubber match with #2 Heelan — the two teams split matches in tournaments this year, with the third deciding the 2024 state champion. Bishop Heelan swept North Scott, albeit narrowly, to get to the finals (25-23, 26-24, 25-21). The Crusaders are led by Senior Maliyah Hacker and her 406 kills this fall season.
State championship volleyball begins today at 12:15 p.m. at XTREAM Arena in Coralville, with pregame coverage airing at 11:45 this morning on 92.1 KRLS.
