A man with a history of no contact order violations against a Knoxville woman has been sentenced in Newton for stalking in violation of a no contact order, a Class C felony. Forty-one year old Joshua Yang received a suspended 10 year prison term, five years probation, a suspended $1,025 fine, and orders to undergo psychiatric and substance abuse evaluations from District Court Judge Thomas Murphy in Jasper County Court on Wednesday. The sentence came as the result of a negotiated guilty plea. According to court documents, the victim felt threatened by Yang during child exchanges that occurred in Jasper County. Court records also stated that Yang violated no contact orders that were put in place to protect the victim five times between September and December of 2023.
