The leadership of the Newton YMCA continues to work toward an expansion of the building within two-to-three years, wanting to expand their childcare services and weight room, add more cardio equipment, and add indoor soccer and pickleball. New YMCA CEO and President George Sorensen says the current plan is to add onto the front of the building.

“That is where we are doing some work right now to make sure that is able to be done. It looks like we are talking about a 26,000 square foot expansion to the building and some renovations. Our goal is to raise about $15-million to pull that off and we are getting there.”

YMCA leaders were successful in getting Congressional Representative Marianette Miller-Meeks to request money for this project in the Federal Government’s 2025 Appropriations Bill. The funding amount she requested was for $4,797,975.
