The Pella Public Library has announced the donation and installation of a World War I map of France which belonged to local resident Hendrik (Henry) Rook. The map was carried by Mr. Rook during his time in the Army and features a dotted line he traced to indicate the course of his travels. Also donated was a book, “The Rooks: From Overijssel to Iowa,” which features more information on Mr. Rook’s life and military service. The donation was made by the Harlan and Shirley Nieuwsma family and the map and book are in the library’s Heritage Room.
