Monica Sullivan was elected as the new Knoxville School Board President Monday night with Dylan Mick elected as Vice President in split votes.
Sullivan was nominated as new president by Larry Scott with a second from Mick and the motion carried in a 3-2 vote after no votes from Dave Smith and Brian Slykhuis. There was then a motion for Slykhuis as Vice President from Dave Smith which failed for a lack of a second. Mick was then nominated as Vice President by Larry Scott which carried in a 3-2 split vote after no votes from Smith and Slykhuis. Sullivan and Mick then received their official oaths of office.
Also at the meeting the board heard a presentation from the Knoxville High School Building Leadership Team, approved a fundraising request, appointments and committees, a revised early retirement proposal, and reviewed and considered the board meeting calendar and policy. The board then voted to cancel the next school board meeting on November 25th and move the December school board meeting to the 16th and the board discussed the current school calendar and approved a second and third reading of board policies. The meeting concluded with the board entering into a closed session for an employee performance review.
