Entering his second year leading the Pella Christian girls basketball program, head coach Brendan Foughty is excited to get the season underway.

The Eagles return a young core that got valuable experience at the varsity level last year, and finished the season with a 10-13 record against a difficult schedule. Pella Christian brings back five girls that made starts last winter, and another five girls that appeared in at least five games. In addition to returning multiple players, Foughty is back for his second season leading the program. Last year, Brendan was the Eagles third head coach in as many years, leading to a lot of learning early in the season. Foughty says that while they are still in the early stages of practices, he feels that they’ve had the opportunity to pick up where they left off last winter.

“We have a lot of girls who are really passionate about basketball and really excited about basketball, and, one practice there’s just a lot of energy in the gym and so I’m really excited about it. I feel like we were starting to build a strong culture and just kind of hit the ground running, as opposed to last year, where it felt like, out of necessity, it took a little while to get going.”

The Pella Christian girls basketball team opens the season at home on Saturday, November 23rd against Davis County at 4:30 pm.
