The Pella High School Robotics team had a successful start to the 2024-25 season as they finished 6-0 in their first meet of the year. The Bionic Dutch are now ranked #1 out of twenty three teams in the competitive Des Moines metro league. This included victories over last year’s state champions and worlds qualifier Johnston robotics team, as well as the highly ranked Urbandale and Norwalk teams. The Bionic Dutch overcame a number of preseason challenges leading into the first meet. Design/Build Engineer Jack Weaver and Computer Programmers Atharv Gurnani and Chetan Vanam worked hard to create the high scoring strategy that led to the victories. The Dutch had an average score of 85 points per match while holding their opponents to just 51 points. Pella has two weeks for improvements on their competition robot before their next meet on November 23 in West Des Moines.
