As part of Food Drive Fridays, the KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio made its first stop at the Pella Hy-Vee store on Friday.
The event encourages donations to local food shelves and other programs in the area. Hy-Vee shoppers interested in participating can make a donation to local food banks at the register, purchase a few extra items and place them in the collection bins at the entrances of the stores, or by delivering items they purchase directly to local food banks. Dalton Buck, who recently moved to Pella to become the District Director of the Hy-Vee stores in Pella and Oskaloosa, says he has appreciated seeing the great relationship they have with the Pella Community Food Shelf.
“This is my fifth Hy-Vee now, so coming up through the ranks of Hy-Vee I’ve seen a lot of different things, and food banks, and helping out, but honestly this partnership is probably one of the best I’ve seen and we work really well together.”
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be at the Pella and Knoxville Hy-Vee stores on Fridays throughout the months of November and December. Also on Food Drive Friday, the KNIA/KRLS News team is featuring area food pantries and other services helping with local hunger during special edition news magazines.
