The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls claimed three top ten finishes Saturday at the 2024 Iowa Girls State Swimming and Diving Meet in Marshalltown, and junior Harper Barton was part of all three.
Barton anchored the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team that placed 8th with a time of 1:39.62. The other three legs of the relay team were made up of Peyton Ray, Tori White, and Alex Riney. Individually, Barton placed 9th in the 50-Yard Freestyle by finishing first in the B-Flight Finals in 23.06. Barton also anchored the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team that finished tenth overall in 3:40.86. Peyton Ray, Tori White, and Alex Riney were the other members of the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team. Barton also placed 16th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke Saturday in 1:08.33.
The Aquagirls’ 200 Yard Medley Relay with Tori White, Addison Van Maanen, Izzy Lane, and Paige Benson finished 12th overall with a time of 1:54.27.
As a team, the NCMP Aquagirls placed 13th with 56 points.
