The Newton Development Corporation hosted the Newton City Council for an Informational Meeting Friday. Newton Development Corporation Executive Director Frank Liebl says the two and a half hour session was strictly informative with no discussion, decisions, or policy determined. 

Newton Development Corporation was established in 1961. The private, non-profit, assists Newton and the surrounding area as a resource for existing businesses and potential entrepreneurs. Newton Development Corporation established the Newton Business Park in northeast Newton. But Liebl recently told the City Council the last available lot for development has been sold, and they currently have no other property available for potential developers. 

Over the years, Newton Development Corporation has worked on various projects with the City of Newton, Jasper County Economic Development Corporation, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and Iowa Economic Development Authority.
