The Pleasantville football team had 16 athletes recognized on the Class 1A All-District 6 teams this season, with seven players being recognized on the first-team.
Highlighting the All-District honors for the Trojans were their three award winners. Sophomore safety Braylon Bingham was named the district’s defensive MVP, senior wide receiver and cornerback Dylan Messamaker was the Golden Apple winner, and head coach Mack Jorth was named the district’s co-coach of the year.
Pleasantville had four players selected to the first-team all-district offense and three athletes chosen on the first-team defense. Sophomore JJ Phillips was one of two running backs selected, after running for 494 yards and six touchdowns. Junior Logan Roff was one of three first-team wide receivers, hauling in 24 passes for 456 yards and eight touchdowns, while sophomore Brayden Kennedy was the selection at tight end with 29 catches for 544 yards and eight scores. Junior Juan Avitia was also named first-team for the Trojans as an offensive lineman.
Juniors Owen Rule and Caylor Jones and sophomore Zane Mullenix were the three Pleasantville athletes cited for first-team all-district defensive honors. As a defensive lineman, Rule recorded 27.5 tackles, eight solos, 5.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery. Mullenix was the Trojans leading tackler at linebacker, posting 49.5 to go along with 23 solos and 10 tackles for loss. At defensive back, Caylor Jones recorded four tackles and two solos.
