The Pella City Council will consider a resolution to transfer a portion of a previous development agreement for the property of the former Smash Park at their meeting this evening.

The agenda item includes details about the new ownership of the land — which is actually the prior owner, as Pella Entertainment Group, LLC sold to PCD Entertainment, LLC. The new group is operated by Stan Van Wyk at 617 Franklin Place, Suite 200, and that is the address of GenLink, a subsidiary of Pella Corporation and its shareholder family that has driven millions of dollars of private investment in projects throughout Pella.

In the council memo, “PCD Entertainment will be required to operate an entertainment facility similar to the former Smash Park. PCD Entertainment’s short-term plans include opening the pickleball side of the facility as soon as feasible. Furthermore, the developer is planning an enhanced food service menu for the sports bar restaurant.”

Last week, a Facebook post by the Pella Pickleball Club indicated the facility would be open for that use specifically by mid-December.

One other agenda item of note this evening is a proposal to revise the 28E Agreement for the South Central Regional Airport, which will be discussed during policy and planning with no formal action:
