Newton Boys Wrestling Coach RJ Brown has a strong returning squad this year. Brown says only three seniors are missing from last year’s starting line-up.

“One of them was a state qualifier, so we return two of our state qualifiers. But most of the team will be back as sophomores and juniors now. A lot of guys who were one match away from going to state last year are back.”

Brown says Kent Montgomery, who won some matches at State last year, is back. He’s ranked third in the State at his weight class this preseason. Kaiden Rogers returns after qualifying for State last year and Lane Rozendahl also returns. He’s currently ranked 12th in the State. Nick Milburn is also back after earning state honors last season as Third Team All-Freshman.  

The Newton Boys wrestling team will open the season with a dual meet at Indianola on Thursday, December 5th.
