Jasper County’s Secondary Roads Department has a revised Winter Operations Policy for clearing snow from county roads. The revisions were approved by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors this week, at the recommendation of County Engineer Mike Frietsch. Frietsch noted the biggest change was in the operating hours for snow plow drivers.
“We took those from 4:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and backed them off an hour to 12 hours in the truck. That’s more consistent with what the State Transportation Department is doing. If we have a snow event that starts after 12 p.m. we will work until 5:30 p.m. That’s also in there now.”
Frietsch told the County Supervisors the other revisions in the policy simply involve cleaning up its language.
