A jury trial has been confirmed for a Pleasant Hill man facing felony charges for allegedly stealing over $2,000 in diesel fuel from a Newton business. District Court Judge Steven Holwerda set December 9th as the trial date for 32-year-old Keiny Carreras Rodriguez. Rodriguez is charged with 2nd Degree Theft, Identity Theft, and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, all of which are Class D felonies. On September 16th of this year, Newton Police Captain Chris Wing says Key Cooperative contacted the police department about an unknown man who had fraudulently obtained and used fuel card information to steal about $2,400 worth of Diesel fuel. The business said the thefts occurred on several occasions between August 27th and September 10th of this year. According to Captain Wing, Rodriguez was connected to the thefts through his black Dodge Ram pick-up and security cameras in the area.
