Newton Mayor Evelyn George is spreading the word that next Saturday, November 30 is Small Business Saturday in Newton. She encourages shoppers to explore Newton’s small businesses and support the community’s entrepreneurs. 

“According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, sixty-eight cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the local community and county. And every dollar spent at a small business creates an additional forty-eight cents in local business activity. So in Jasper County we really want to continue supporting our small businesses and how they contribute to the local economy and create jobs.

Newton Mayor Evelyn George read and signed a Proclamation during this week’s city council meeting proclaiming next Saturday Small Business Saturday in Newton. In connection with the proclamation, shoppers can get Shop Small bags from Newton Main Street starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 30 (while supplies last).
