Volunteer bell ringers are needed to fill shifts at red kettle locations in Newton and Colfax. The kettles are at Fareway, Hy-Vee, Theisen’s and Wal-Mart in Newton and at Fareway in Colfax. Newton Salvation Army Captain Tim North says there are many two hour shifts available between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. from now through Christmas Eve.

There is no bell ringing on Thanksgiving or Sundays. Captain North says the fundraising goal is $43,000. Money from the Red Kettle Campaign in Newton and Colfax will help fund the many services and programs the Newton Salvation Army provides to those in need.
