Senior Alex Riney added nine points in the win, while freshman Camryn Klein had eight and senior Hailey Dickerson and sophomore Peyton Carkhuff each contributed seven points. Newton head coach Jake Bennett was pleased with how his team started the game and the season.
“It was really good to see the girls come out with confidence and get off to a fast start. We talked about playing with intensity and how that leads to more offensive opportunities. It was good to get many girls in and a lot of touches for people and ultimately come out with the win.”
