A Des Moines company has been awarded the contract for the second phase of the Highway F-48 West resurfacing project in Jasper County. InRoads LLC will do the work for approximately $2.55 million. The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved that low bid during their meeting Tuesday. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says the engineer’s estimate for the 3.1 mile project was closer to $3.34 million.
“Substancially below the engineer’s estimate. We are continuing to receive very competitive, very reasonable pricing for asphalt. Bid prices are still low, and we are the beneficiaries of that.”
Phase two involves resurfacing Jasper County Highway F-48 West from Iowa Highway 117 in Colfax, east to the bridge just south of Interstate 80. Phase one, which was completed this past summer, resurfaced the County Highway from that bridge east to Newton. Frietsch says InRoads has 120 working days to complete the resurfacing, with a late start date of May 5, 2025.
