Pleasantville sophomore Braylon Bingham earned first team all-state football honors by the Iowa Football Coaches Association.
Bingham was selected as a defensive back but had an outstanding season at quarterback as well. On defense, Bingham had 49.5 tackles, one tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, and six interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. On offense, Bingham threw for 1,749 yards, 23 touchdowns, and rushed for 368 yards and eight touchdowns.
These types of honors are familiar for Bingham as he earned all-state baseball honors as an eighth grader before even starting his freshman year. He later went on to assume the starting quarterback role for the Trojans last season part way through the year, a role in which he excelled. Bingham later went on to lead the Trojan basketball team in scoring and became a first team all-conference selection. If that wasn’t enough, Bingham qualified for the state track and field meet in the high jump and helped lead the baseball team to the state tournament this past summer as he led the conference in hits and was once again selected to the all-state team. Bingham was also an all-conference football selection for defensive specialist and will look to have continued success on the hardwood this basketball season.
