Five football players from the Class 4A State Runner-Up Dutch have received All-State recognition from the Iowa Football Coaches Association.
First team honorees included Running Back Emmanuel Diers, Linebacker Nate Warner, and Colin Kerndt, who was a utility selection. Second team selections were Offensive Lineman Palmer Hemming and Wide Receiver Tyson Barnes.
Diers ranked 2nd in Class 4A in all-purpose yards at 2048 and scored 16 total TDs, which was 8th best among running backs and wide receivers.
Warner joins older brothers Will and Lucas as First Team honorees to have played for Pella. His 109.5 tackles were the 2nd most of any 4A player. Nate also earned Elite All-State Honors from the Des Moines Register, making the squad of the best in Iowa regardless of class size.
Kerndt established his name among the great quarterbacks in the Dutch program’s rich history as a first team selection, the first to be selected for offense since Nick Finney when he led the Dutch to the 2016 title (Aaron Downs was chosen as a defensive player in 2019). Colin’s 2837 yards passing and rushing combined ranked 1st in 4A and his 32 passing and rushing scores were 2nd most in Class 4A.
Barnes 45 receptions ranked tied for 10th with his teammate Diers and his six receiving scores also were 10th best in Class 4A. Hemming was the starting center in all 13 games for the Dutch.
Warner, Diers, and Hemming will all be the key returners for a Pella team in 2025 that will be under new head coach Ben Bollard, and is projected to bring back five starters on offense and seven on defense.
