After a year hiatus, the Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Program has been revived. Last season, the Sabers, due to heavy graduation losses, were not able to field a team. This season while numbers are still low, Twin Cedars has enough to have a team. First year coach Jake DeGeest, himself a Twin Cedars alum, tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with little court experience on his team they have had to work the basics to get everyone caught up.
DeGeest: “Practice we’re working a lot on foundational skills. I can’t say enough about their attitude. I can ask them to do anything and they’ll do it with a smile on their face, and it’s been enjoyable.”
What experience he does have comes in the form of senior Jayden Weldon. Weldon ,two years ago averaged 2.1 points per game coming off the bench. Twin Cedars starts the season Tuesday at GMG.
