The Central College men’s basketball team won its opening game of the Nebraska Wesleyan Snyder Classic defeating Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) 78-66.
The Dutch (4-2, 1-0 American Rivers) took a 40-23 lead into halftime after shooting 57.1% from the field and 8-15 from three-point land. Josh Van Gorp had another double-double in the victory, scoring 30 points on 12-17 shooting and 17 rebounds. Will Henricksen shot 4-5 from three-point land and scored 14 points. Bradley Curren scored 12 points while also collecting an assist. Kaleb Brand scored eight points on 4-5 shooting while also dishing out 11 assists and collecting two steals. Owen Schipper added four assists and four steals for Central. Off the bench, Kip Tupa went 3-3 from the field to score nine points. As a team the Dutch shot 50.9% from the field, 43.5% from three, and 82.4% from the free throw line.
Central has a quick turnaround, facing Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) at 3 pm today.
