Jasper County Auditor Jenna Jennings says a recount of all 20,306 ballots cast by Jasper County voters in the First Congressional District race November 5th determined there was no change in the results. The recount was conducted earlier this week by a Recount Board consisting of three members, one representing the Mariannette Miller-Meeks campaign, one representing the Christina Bohannan campaign, and a third member who was agreed upon by both parties. Jennings says there were also three observers that remained in the room all day with the Recount Board.

According to Jennings, the recount process went from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and consisted of running all 20,306 ballots through the central counting machine. After the recount was finished, it was determined the results  remained the same as they did after the first initial canvass on Wednesday, November 13th. The results are 11,358 votes for Mariannette Miller-Meeks and 8,147 votes for Christina Bohannon.

Official results confirmed earlier this month by county officials in the First Congressional District showed Miller-Meeks ahead of Democrat Christina Bohannan by just over 800 votes and Bohannan asked for a recount. Now, according to results obtained by the Associated Press, Miller-Meeks finished 798 votes ahead of Bohannan in the recount.
