The Central College men’s basketball team extended their winning streak to four games Saturday by defeating the University of Northwestern- St. Paul (Minn.) 84-76.
The win gave the Dutch (5-2, 1-0 American Rivers) a 2-0 finish in the Nebraska Wesleyan Snyder Classic, after defeating Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) 78-66 on Friday. Central held the Eagles to 42.9% from the field and 21.4% from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Dutch shot 42.4% from the field, 37.5% from three, and 25-31 from the free throw line.
Center Josh Van Gorp led the team once again recording his second straight 30-point double-double, and his seventh double-double in seven games. Van Gorp posted game-highs of 30 points and 11 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists. Owen Schipper added 15 points on 3-6 shooting from behind the three-point line, while also contributing two steals, a block, and five rebounds. Bradley Curren was the third Central player to reach double figures in the contest, scoring 10 points to go along with six rebounds and two assists. Kaleb Brand led the team once again with seven assists while also scoring eight points. Grant Uecker added eight points, four assists, and two steals in the win.
The Dutch look to extend their winning streak to five games on Wednesday, as they return to conference play at home against Buena Vista University at 7:30 pm.
