When the second phase of the resurfacing on Jasper County Highway F-48 West is done next year, several safety improvements will have been made. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says the project includes the realignment of the South 28th Avenue West and F-48 West intersection, and the reconstruction of the approach paving to both sides of a railroad bridge.

“We have a couple of substantial pieces of work in this corridor we have to tackle for safety reasons and driveability reasons.”

InRoads LLC of Des Moines has been awarded the contract for the resurfacing. They submitted a low bid of approximately $2.55 million. The engineer’s estimate for the 3.1 mile project was closer to $3.34 million. Frietsch says InRoads has 120 working days to complete the resurfacing, with a late start date of May 5th, 2025.
