While the fall season ending on the last possible day pushed a few debuts back, the winter sports teams at Pella High School are ramping up into action.
Both Dutch Bowling teams are in their second meet of the year, taking on Newton at the school’s mutual home site at Cardinal Lanes at 3:00 this afternoon. This comes after Pella swept Pella Christian to open the new winter calendar.
Pella’s girls basketball team is 2-0 but the competition ramps up with a pair of state championship contenders this week. The Dutch host #2 North Polk for a girls-only hoops evening Tuesday that can be viewed on Pella Dutch Live before heading to Norwalk on Friday. Pella’s boys debut after postponing the start of the season, as they were scheduled to take on the Comets just a few short weeks after the two schools played for a football title. The Norwalk twin bill on the road Friday can be heard on 92.1 KRLS.
Pella’s girls wrestlers travel to Carlisle Tuesday for a quad meet with the hosting Wildcats, Perry, and Pleasantville. The Dutch boys grapplers have their debut meet on Thursday at home against Ottumwa and Burlington at 5:30 p.m.
