Manatt’s Incorporated of Brooklyn Iowa has been given a contract for a 1.6 mile road reclamation project from U.S. Highway 6 north to the housing area on the south side of Rock Creek State Park. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says this section of East 125th Street North is a twenty-two foot wide asphalt road built about fifteen years ago with three inches of asphalt over a fly ash stabilizing base.

“We believe the issue with this road is the width of the base was probably insufficient compared to the paving above. What you will notice is a lot of the damage is along the edges. There’s a lot of wheel rutting and probably some other issues.”

Manatt’s Incorporated submitted a low bid of $695,363 and has been awarded the contract by the Jasper County Supervisors. Frietsch noted the engineer’s estimate for the project was $694,000. The estimated start date is June 30, 2025 with completion expected within 20 working days.
