The Indianola City Council approved multiple development projects at their meeting Monday, part of several public hearings regarding housing around the city. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News one of the public hearings included the Summercrest Development agreement near the Indianola Wellness Campus, which is a big investment the city will be able to take advantage of in the future.

“That one is actually a $29 million investment into our community, it’s going to take a while, this isn’t going to happen overnight or anything. But we are really excited to see a fieldhouse come in with three basketball courts, too see a baseball complex, and pickleball courts coming into the area. We see it as a regional draw, with the extension of Willowcrest as an arterial that ties into the Quail Meadows subdivision so it’s going to have greater access and ability to get out onto Jefferson. So that is a benefit, and we see it as a draw for new restaurants and hotels and other commercial venues in our city.”
