Jasper County Board of Supervisors Chairman Brandon Talsma has some concern regarding potential growth in the county’s fiscal year 2025-2026 budget. The process of crafting the next county budget will begin in about three weeks, and Talsma has a specific growth percentage in mind.
“My intent going into the budget season is to keep the growth under 1.5%. There’s just a lot going on. I’m starting to get a little bit concerned is all I’m saying… in general.”
Talsma cites upcoming negotiations on three union contracts and reorganization in the County Engineer’s Office as reasons for his concern. He also mentions how people are currently upset about higher property taxes and expenses.
