The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams fell to Waukee in non-conference action Tuesday night at home, the girls falling 58-38 and the boys 72-45 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The girls got off to a slow start defensively, not scoring for the first several minutes despite holding Waukee to a slow start offensively as well, only to see the Warriors pick it up quickly to lead 18-4 after the first, and 35-13 at halftime. Indianola began to find a rhythm offensively, but the Warriors proved too strong and ran out the clock in the second half. Madi Grover led Indianola with 10 points.

The Indians boys had much of the same, a slow start offensively leading to too much of a deficit in the first half, as they trailed 21-8 at the end of the first, and 41-18 at halftime. The Indians began to finish better in the second half, but like the girls the deficit was too large to come back from. Head coach Jeff Ebling said after the game they were put off by the physical play from Waukee and it took some time to get into the game.

George Blake led the team with 16 points. The Indians girls fall to 0-2, and will play Des Moines Roosevelt on Thursday, while the boys are now 0-1 and will host Newton on Friday.
