Kading Properties is moving forward with a new rental housing development in Knoxville.

At a Knoxville City Council meeting in August, the site plan was approved for the new development, but Kading did not receive federal housing tax credits they applied for, so the city waited to see if they would continue to move forward with the development, and they will. The site plan for Villas on Bell will be a multi-family housing development located on the north side of W Bell Ave. and west of S Roche St., just north of the current Terrace View area. Kading intends to construct various types of housing at this location similar to their project at that other development. The new project will include 247 market-rate rental units located across 70 single-story buildings, that are a combination of detached dwellings, duplexes, four-plexes, and six-plexes. The project will be completed in two phases. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery is happy that developers are wanting to build more housing in Knoxville, as it is a major need for the community.

“We’ve talked about the housing demand here in Knoxville for many many years. We’re very fortunate that we are getting these developers that are interested in building here in Knoxville. We have known that the demand is here. With Kading they came and did their first project and saw the demand that is here and thought it would be a worthwhile investment to continue that for another project.”

This will be the largest development that Kading has ever done.
