Knoxville Dance Team Coach Devin Dunkin says with this being such a huge competition she wants to see her team up their game every year.

“It makes you want to put your best foot forward. You know that you are going up against the very best schools and the very best dancers in the state. You want to make sure that you live up to that expectation as well. Every year the competition gets harder and harder and harder and so just making sure that we are upping our game every year and bringing our best dancers and our best routines so we continue to leave the legacy here at Knoxville.”

Entering its 48th year, Iowa hosts the largest state high school dance competition in the nation with 250+ high school teams and a total of more than 5,000 dancers performing more than 600 routines throughout the three-day competition.

The state competition, held in Des Moines, includes performances in both Wells Fargo Arena and the Hy-Vee Hall. Panels of dance industry professionals and leaders from across the nation judge teams competing in a variety of 15 categories. You can purchase tickets to the State Dance Competition here. KNIA/KRLS will have complete results from all area schools on Saturday.
