In every race she competed in this fall cross country season, Pella standout junior Marissa Ferebee did not lose — and in fact, she dominated her way to a second consecutive state championship on November 1st and the best ever 5K-time in Iowa history (16:30.9).
Following the IGHSAU season concluding, Ferebee took that same special speed to the Nike Cross Regional in Sioux Falls, where she kept her impressive winning streak up and earned her way to this Saturday’s Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon.
Ferebee remains ranked 5th in the nation, according to the latest Dyestat poll announced on Thursday, a spot she’s held for the last three releases. Marissa’s time of 16:25.5 at the Sioux Falls race is the 3rd best in the country — and to win the biggest race of her career, she’ll have to chase Jane Hedengren of Utah and her 15:50.1 mark set two weeks ago in the Southwest Regional qualifying race.
Marissa will compete at the Nike Cross Nationals at noon local time on Saturday, and a live stream of the event can be found here and live results can be viewed here.
