The City of Newton is going to continue to provide free golf and pool passes for Newton Housing Development Corporation’s 2025 Get to Know Newton Welcome Package. People purchasing new homes in Newton have receiveda collection of passes, discounts, and subscriptions for various Newton businesses or entities like the Newton YMCA and Iowa Speedway. Newton’s Park Operations Superintendent Nick Cummins says the combined value of the eighteen-hole, ten-punch golf pass and the four season passes to Maytag Pool is $358. City staff believes most of the home buyers who received these non-transferrable passes would not normally buy them. So providing the free passes could introduce them to these facilities, and result in some of them continuing to be customers in the future.
