The Pleasantville girls basketball team defeated Earlham Friday night at home in a West Central Conference matchup while the boys team came up short.
The Trojan girls defeated the Cardinals 65-56 to open conference play 1-0. Pleasantville was led in scoring by Joelle Johnson who had 22 and Hope DeMan who had 17. The Trojan girls improve to 3-1. The boys team fell to Earlham 66-55 and were led in scoring by Braylon Bingham who had 27 points. The Trojan boys fall to 1–1. Head Boys Coach Taylor Phipps says he looks forward to his team continuing to improve and get more games under their belt.
“Our effort and our attitude was great the whole game. There are just some things we need to clean up, and get better at and learn from and we will be a different team down the road when we play them later on.”
Both the boys and girls teams will next compete on Tuesday at Madrid.
