Updates on the construction projects at Aurora Heights and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools and recognition of state qualifying athletes and teams highlight the agenda for tonight’s Newton School Board meeting. 

Newton School Superintendent Tom Messenger says work has picked up since Thanksgiving at both school construction sites. He also suggests anyone interested in how the projects are progressing, to follow the updates provided on the school district’s website.

“We will continue to provide updates on our website following our board meetings. Those updates will provide pictures and rundowns of everything going at those two locations as it relates to the construction projects.”

The Newton School Board will also give special recognition this evening to the state qualifying football team, boys and girls cross country runners, and Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella swimmers. 

Tonight’s Newton Board of Education meeting will be held in the High School Library/Media Center starting at 5:30 p.m.
