The Knoxville High School winter band and choir concert will be held tonight at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.
The concert will be held at 7:00 pm and will feature both departments performing a variety of holiday music and other pieces for anyone in the community to enjoy. There will be four total ensembles performing including concert band, concert choir, jazz band, and the chamber singers. For the band department, they will perform 125th Street Blues, Without a Trace, and Tiger San Pedro. The concert band will play Alamo and a few Christmas songs including Carol of the Bells.
The Concert Choir will be premiering a commissioned work by Des Moines-based composer Alex Kane. There will also be a special recognition as they will be showing off their brand new choir robes this year. Donors have been recognized in the program, but the choir will also be recognizing them before the students get on stage. Professional Soprano Emma Auberg will also be performing with the Concert Choir on one of their selections. The Chamber Singers will continue their time-honored tradition of inviting all alumni back to perform O Holy Night. New Knoxville High School Band Director Zach Collins encourages the community to come out and support the kids.
“The absolute best way you can support our music programs here at Knoxville High School is to come out and hear the kids perform. There is nothing more rewarding for the students than to perform for a packed house full of supportive Knoxville people. Even if you don’t have a connection to anyone on stage we would love for people to come out to hear what the kids have been working on over the course of the semester.”
