The new soccer mini-pitch recently completed at Newton’s Maytag Park will be named after the family of the local assistant soccer coach who pushed to get the facility built. Newton Mayor Evelyn George says both the City Council and the City Park Board unanimously approved naming the new facility the Lundberg Family Mini-Pitch.

“The Lundberg family worked to secure the funds needed to construct a soccer mini-pitch in Maytag Park, making possible a new amenity within the park system.”

Brett Lundberg is the assistant soccer coach who spearheaded the project, which received strong community support. Approximately $150,000 was raised in less than a year through donations from local businesses and organizations.
