Newton High School’s Pacesetters Dance Team made program history Friday by collecting four trophies at the Iowa State Dance Team Association’s Championships in Des Moines. PCM’s Dance Team brought home two trophies, with one of them representing a State Championship.

The Newton Pacesetters placed second in Mix Class III, third in Class II Kick and Class II Contemporary, and fourth in Hip Hop Class VII. In addition, Pacesetter MeLayna Budinich took fifth place in the Class VIII Solo Championship. It was Budinich’s fourth straight year performing in the ISDTA’s Solo Championships.

Newton Pacesetter Sponsor Graham Sullivan says she’s immensely proud of these girls, and this team, and these routines. She adds they will be hard to say goodbye to at the end of this season.

The Newton Pacesetters next performance will be their Winter Show at Newton High School Saturday, January 25, 2025.

PCM’s Dance Team is the 2025 State Champions in Hip Hop Class VIII. They performed that routine last Friday morning in Wells Fargo Arena. Then later that night in Pom Class VIII, the Mustang dancers placed third.
