The West Des Moines law firm that represents the City of Newton is raising its rates effective July 1st. The Newton City Council has accepted the changes that Brick Gentry P.C. proposed. Newton city staff says it has been twenty years since Brick Gentry’s last adjustment to their discounted municipal client rate. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says the median hourly rate for firm attorneys is now $400. Brick Gentry P.C. is raising all municipal attorney rates from $150 to $200 per hour, and all clerk/paralegal rates from $75 to $100 per hour.
