The City of Newton has partnered with Service Line Warranties of America to provide homeowners an opportunity to protect their water service lines. Repairs and replacement of water service lines connecting homes to the City’s utility’s system are the homeowner’s responsibility.

City of Newton Community Marketing Manager Danielle Rogers says this new partnership will be explained in a letter that the city is sending to residents.

“The letter residents will be receiving has information about new optional water service line protection plans offered by Service Line Warranties of America. It includes both the SLWA logo and the City of Newton’s branding, as this is a formal partnership we think will benefit residents.”

Rogers also says participating in Service Line Warranties of America’s program is entirely voluntary and homeowners will not be required to pay any deductibles.

“If a repair is needed after you purchase the protection plan, the company’s 24-hour hotline will dispatch a local, licensed contractor familiar with Newton’s codes to make the repairs. The monthly cost for exterior water service line coverage is $7.49 per month. There is also exterior sewer septic line coverage and interior plumbing and drainage coverage available. Each costs $12.00 per month.”

Rogers says Service Line Warranties of America is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and has partnered with over 950 cities and municipalities across the U.S. For more information or to enroll, contact SLWA at 866-922-9006 or visit www.slwofa.com.
