The Newton girls basketball team will try for their fourth win of the season at home tonight against Des Moines East. 

The Cardinals are 3-1 after losing last Friday night at Indianola 53-42. Despite the loss, Newton head coach Jake Bennett liked the way the team competed. He hopes that continues tonight.

Des Moines East is 0-4 on the year after falling 60-17 at home to Marshalltown last Friday night. The Newton vs. Des Moines East game can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream, beginning with pregame coverage at 7:00 p.m.

The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella boys swim team is also at home tonight hosting Des Moines East and Boone. The NCMP boys won their own Invitational this past Saturday defeating Indianola, Grinnell, Oskaloosa, and Vinton-Shellsburg. 

Tonight’s swim meet at the Newton YMCA begins at 5:30 p.m.
