After etching his name in the record book twice this weekend, Jay Ceperley was named the American Rivers Conference Male Swimmer of the Week.
The senior out of Hastings, Neb. has now been named the swimming and diving performer of the week four times during his career.
At Grinnell’s Pioneer Classic, Ceperley had record-setting performances both as an individual and as part of a relay. Individually, Ceperley raced a 54.38 in the finals of the 100 yard butterfly, tying the school record that was set by Ryan Gaumer on Feb. 15, 2019. Ceperley’s performance earned him eighth place in the event.
In the 800 yard freestyle relay, Ceperley was the anchor to a 7:33.49 time, defeating the former school record by over 11 seconds. The previous record was set by the same team of men on Oct. 19 when they raced a 7:44.70.
Ceperley and the Storm will return to action in 2025 when they head back to Grinnell for the Grinnell Invite on Jan. 17-18.
