Holding Van Meter to single digits in three out of the four quarters of their non-conference game Thursday night, the Pella Christian girls basketball team picked up a 41-27 road win Thursday night.

The first half was tightly contested, with neither team holding a lead of more than three points in the first 16 minutes of the game. The Eagles and Bulldogs were knotted up at 9-9 after the opening quarter, and a strong end of the second quarter pushed Pella Christian in front 22-19 at halftime. Out of the break, it was all Eagles for the rest of the night. A strong defensive effort in the third quarter allowed Pella Christian to outscore Van Meter 13-2 in the period and claim a 35-21 advantage going into the final eight minutes of play. In the fourth, both teams were limited to six points apiece, which allowed the Eagles to hang on for the 14-point victory and improve to 3-3 overall on the season.

Leading Pella Christian offensively on the night were sophomores Chloe Snyder and Rachel Kacmarynski, who each scored 11 points to combine for 22 of the team’s 41 points on the night. Faith Kacmarynski added all nine of her points in the second half to help the Eagles pull away from the Bulldogs, while Addie Van Arendonk and Ava Breems each had four and Brynn Runner added two.
