The Indianola boys and girls wrestlers took down Dallas Center-Grimes at home Thursday night, while the basketball teams were swept by Ames in a non-conference doubleheader.

The Indians girls wrestlers took down the Mustangs 39-30. Winning by fall for Indianola included Siera Becker at 100lbs, Nora Ohnemus at 105lbs, Kennedy Allen at 115lbs, and Andrea Taylor at 130lbs. The squad next hits the mats Saturday at Ankeny. The squad also celebrated senior night.

The boys continued their undefeated streak in conference duals with a 50-18 victory. Winning by fall included Mac Crosson at 138lbs, Elijah Blewitt at 150lbs, Jake Pontier at 157lbs, and Zach O’Meara at 190lbs. The squad next wrestles Saturday at Johnston.

The Indians girls basketball squad dominated the first quarter, leading 15-3 after the first and despite the Little Cyclones finding some offense led 24-13 at the halftime break. The Indians offense went cold in the second half, as they were outscored 18-9 in the third quarter to see their lead trimmed to just one at just 32-31. Ames then went on an 8-0 run to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The Indians were led by Madi Grover with 11 points, and fall to 2-3 on the season.

The boys fell behind early and were unable to come back against the Little Cyclones, trailing 15-7 after the first, and 36-16 at halftime. Ames continues to play well in the second half, leading 50-22 going into the fourth and held on to win. George Blake had 16 points to lead the team.

The basketball teams compete tonight in Little Hawkeye Conference play, with both games heard live on 94.3 KNIA and the Indianola Activities YouTube stream with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15, with tipoff at 5:30pm.
